Cindy Sheppard MBA is a Financial Advisor with Waddell & Reed. Cindy was born in WI, but grew up in Rochester, graduating from John Marshall High School in 1980. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and MBA from Minnesota State Mankato where she had the opportunity to work as a graduate assistant in the Small Business Development Center/Small Business Institute.
Cindy’s first “real” job was selling local cable advertising in Nashua, NH. Returning to MN she worked at the Post Bulletin, selling advertising for a regional business publication, Successful Business. For 22 years she worked at Schmidt Printing in Byron in sales for Schmidt’s Card Pack Division. During this time Schmidt’s Card Pack competition went from 3 others to none, as Schmidt absorbed the card pack assets of two of their competitor’s and the other folded that line of business. She was the senior sales consultant on a “team” that serviced one of Schmidt’s largest & most profitable customer’s, to date, SuperMedia out of Dallas, which grew to $10MM client at its peak in 2010.
In 2012, Cindy made the difficult decision to leave her Schmidt family to sell Silpada jewelry full-time. Believing that “everything happens for a reason,” this lead to her current and final career change. Starting as a client of Waddell & Reed, Cindy became activated July 2014 and is in her 3rd year as an advisor. Cindy is passionate about “Empowering Women in their Finances” as 92% of us will be in charge of our Finances sometime in our adult lives. Cindy is VP of ABWA (American Business Women Association, Rochester Chapter), a member of WIFS (Women in Insurance & Financial Services), and on the 2017 Executive Leadership Team for Go Red for Women. Cindy has been married to Judd nearly 28 years, they have a son, Ryne, who works at the Mayo Clinic and a Siberian husky named Gannon. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, travel, & spending time with friends and family.
