Fiscal and Regulatory Policy

Ensure U.S. businesses can compete in the global marketplace. In order to stay competitive in a global marketplace, we must have policies in place that work for businesses. Tax and regulatory policy that encourages economic growth, job creation, and those that address issues and offer solutions to create a more efficient, less costly government and business environment are important to the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce.

For businesses to be competitive, policies for reduced tax rates on capital gains must be preserved, along with reductions in corporate income tax rates. Encouraging innovation is crucial for our economy, by maintaining and expanding incentives for innovation through tax credits that encourage research and experimentation we can lead the marketplace and create jobs.

Healthcare

Access, cost and quality of healthcare are inter-related and are all of primary concern to business. Public policy proposals should be evaluated for the effect on all three areas as well as the preservation of a private sector based system.

Transportation and Infrastructure

Significant investment is needed in America's infrastructure (roads, rail, water, sewer and energy) to remain globally competitive and retain our quality of life. Public private partnerships at federal, state and local levels are essential.

Workforce

It is important that skilled workers are developed through education standards that focus on accountability with strong concentrations in math, science, engineering, and the preparation for secondary education.

Energy

A comprehensive energy policy addressing traditional and alternative energy is needed to increase supply, improve efficiency and protect the environment.
