U.S. Chamber of Commerce Names Two Rochester Businesses as Top 100 in the Nation. Custom Alarm named Blue Ribbon Award Winner and CWS, Inc. Named Honoree
Two Rochester area small businesses have been recognized from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for each being one of the top 100 small businesses in the United States. Custom Alarm/Custom Communications, Inc., has been named a Blue Ribbon Small Business Award winner and CWS, Inc., has been named a Free Enterprise Honoree. The awards are designed to recognize businesses that demonstrate excellent business practices in several areas, including: business strategy, employee development, community involvement and customer service.
This year's Small Business of the Year winners were selected from a record number of nationwide applicants. "Our award winners are proof that the American entrepreneurial spirit is as strong as ever," said Thomas J. Donohue, U.S. Chamber president and CEO. "We’re relying on small businesses to lead us out of this recession, create new jobs, and get our economy moving again, and these companies are leading the way."
"Both Custom Alarm and CWS, Inc. are focused and committed to supporting the communities in which they operate," says John Wade, president of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce. "These national awards are positive proof of the value of having each of them in our community."
Seven businesses will be named finalists for the DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award, sponsored by Sam's Club, on Monday, March 15, and all Blue Ribbon Award winners will be honored at America's Small Business Summit on May 18, in Washington, D.C.
Blue Ribbon businesses are also eligible for the Community Excellence Award, decided by online public voting, March 1 - 12.
