The mission of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce is to lead, inform, advocate, and advance business interests for members; and to promote a healthy community and a growing economy. To achieve this mission, the Chamber Board of Directors has produced the following plan of action. The plan identifies four priority areas: Public Policy, Workforce Development, Membership Development, and Communications.
Public Policy
The Chamber serves as the lead advocate for business at all levels of government. By developing positions on issues of public policy and communicating these positions, the Chamber creates value for its members. The Chamber provides a forum for the business voice to be heard. As a result state, local, and federal leaders seek the audience of our members and their opinion with regard to public policy. The following groups support Public Policy efforts: Government Affairs Committee, Government Forums Committee, Transportation Committee, Agri-Business Task Force, High Speed Rail Task Force, and Government Action Committee.
Workforce Development
Through workforce development efforts, the Chamber serves as a resource for business in the areas of recruitment, retention, and education of employees. The Chamber collaborates with and supports agencies and organizations and as a result creates value for our members as a resource for promoting a growing and vibrant workforce. The following initiatives support workforce development efforts: Business Solutions, Childcare, Diversity Awareness, Health Care, Housing, Leadership Greater Rochester, Preparing Workforce, and Toastmasters.
Membership Development
Membership Development is encouraged through a variety of events and programs. The Chamber actively encourages and promotes the interaction of our members. Individual members are provided a variety of opportunities to engage and promote their business. The following networking opportunities provide added value for your membership investment: Ambassador Committee, New Member Outreach Committee, Member Visit Survey, New Member Reception, Member Appreciation Day, Relocation Subscription, Power Lunch, Business After Hours/EXTRA!, AM Espresso, Chamber Annual Member Celebration, and Chamber Annual Golf Outing.
Communications
Effective communication strategies assure that Chamber efforts on behalf of members are understood and valued by Chamber members and the Rochester Area community. The Chamber Advantage, faxes, e-mails, Web site (www.rochestermnchamber.com), radio program and identity standards are all used as methods to deliver our messages.
